English Translation

ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Khaffāf narrated to us, Saʿīd informed us, from Qatādah, from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ghanm, from ʿAmr ibn Khārijah, who said: The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ addressed us while he was at Minā upon his riding camel, and I was beneath the neck of his she-camel and she was chewing her cud and her saliva was dripping between my shoulders. He said: 'Indeed Allāh عز وجل has divided for every person his share of the inheritance, and no bequest is permitted for an heir. The child belongs to the bed, and for the adulterer is the stone. Whoever claims descent from other than his father or affiliates himself with other than his masters out of disdain for them, upon him is the curse of Allāh, the angels, and all of mankind.' Saʿīd said: And Maṭar narrated to us from Shahr ibn Ḥawshab, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Ghanm, from ʿAmr ibn Khārijah, from the Prophet ﷺ the like of it. Maṭar added: 'Neither repentance nor ransom will be accepted from him.' Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Saʿīd narrated to us, and he mentioned the hadith. He said: Maṭar said: 'Neither repentance nor ransom — or ransom nor repentance — will be accepted from him.' This is the end of the Musnad of the Syrians.
