حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ بَهْدَلَةَ حَدَّثَنِي زِرُّ بْنُ حُبَيْشٍ قَالَ وَفَدْتُ فِي خِلَافَةِ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ عَفَّانَ وَإِنَّمَا حَمَلَنِي عَلَى الْوِفَادَةِ لُقِيُّ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ و
َأَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَلَقِيتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ هَلْ رَأَيْتَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَعَمْ وَغَزَوْتُ مَعَهُ اثْنَتَيْ عَشْرَةَ غَزْوَةً

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Ṣamad narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, ʿĀṣim ibn Bahdālah narrated to us, Zirr ibn Ḥubaysh narrated to me, who said: I made a delegation during the caliphate of ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān, and what motivated me to make the journey was to meet Ubayy ibn Kaʿb and the Companions of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ. So I met Ṣafwān ibn ʿAssāl and said to him: 'Did you see the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ?' He said: 'Yes, and I went on twelve military expeditions with him.'
