English Translation
Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd narrated to us, from Shuʿbah, ʿAmr ibn Murrah narrated to me, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Salamah, from Ṣafwān ibn ʿAssāl, who said: A man from the Jews said to another: 'Let us go to this Prophet.' He said: 'Do not say this, for if he hears it, he would have four eyes [with delight].' So they went to him and asked him about this verse: {And We certainly gave Mūsā nine clear signs}. He said: 'Do not associate anything with Allāh, do not kill the soul which Allāh has forbidden except by right, do not steal, do not commit adultery, do not flee from battle, do not practice sorcery, do not consume usury, do not bring an innocent person before an authority to be killed, and upon you especially, O Jews, do not transgress regarding the Sabbath.' They said: 'We bear witness that you are the Messenger of Allāh.'
