حَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ عَنْ بَحِيرِ بْنِ سَعْدٍ عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ مَعْدَانَ عَنْ جُبَيْرِ بْنِ نُفَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ أَنَّهُ حَدَّثَهُمْ قَالَ غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْبَرَ وَالنَّاسُ جِيَاعٌ فَأَصَبْنَا بِهَا حُمُرًا مِنْ حُمُرِ الْإِنْسِ فَذَبَحْنَاهَا قَالَ فَأُخْبِرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَمَرَ عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنَ عَوْفٍ فَنَادَى فِي النَّاسِ أَنّ
َ لُحُومَ حُمُرِ الْإِنْسِ لَا تَحِلُّ لِمَنْ شَهِدَ أَنِّي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ قَالَ وَوَجَدْنَا فِي جَنَبَاتِهَا بَصَلًا وَثُومًا وَالنَّاسُ جِيَاعٌ فَجَهِدُوا فَرَاحُوا فَإِذَا رِيحُ الْمَسْجِدِ بَصَلٌ وَثُومٌ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَنْ أَكَلَ مِنْ هَذِهِ الْبَقْلَةِ الْخَبِيثَةِ فَلَا يَقْرَبْنَا وَقَالَ لَا تَحِلُّ النُّهْبَى وَلَا يَحِلُّ كُلُّ ذِي نَابٍ مِنْ السِّبَاعِ وَلَا تَحِلُّ الْمُجَثَّمَةُ

English Translation
Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī narrated: We went on a military expedition with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khaybar while the people were hungry. We found domestic donkeys there, so we slaughtered them. the Prophet ﷺ was informed, and he ordered ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿAwf to announce among the people: 'The meat of domestic donkeys is not lawful for anyone who testifies that I am the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.' He said: We also found onions and garlic in the surrounding area, and the people were hungry, so they exerted themselves in eating them. Then they went to the mosque, and the smell of the mosque was of onions and garlic. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Whoever eats from this foul vegetable, let him not come near us.' He also said: 'Plunder is not lawful, nor is every predatory beast with fangs, nor is the muthajjamah (an animal tied up as a target for shooting).'
