حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَةَ قَالَ رَآنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَقَمْلِي يَتَسَاقَطُ عَلَى وَجْهِي فَقَالَ أَتُؤْذِيكَ هَوَامُّكَ هَذِهِ قَالَ قُلْتُ نَعَمْ قَالَ فَأَمَرَنِي أَنْ أَحْلِقَ وَهُمْ بِالْحُدَيْبِيَةِ وَلَمْ يُبَيِّنْ لَهُمْ أَنَّهُمْ يَحْلِقُونَ بِهَا وَهُمْ عَلَى طَمَعٍ أَنْ يَدْخُلُوا مَكَّةَ فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ الْفِدْيَةَ فَأَمَرَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ أُطْعِمَ فِرْقًا بَيْنَ سِتَّةِ مَسَاكِينَ أَوْ أَصُومَ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ أَوْ أَذْبَحَ شَاةً

English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, from Miṣʿar, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn al-Aṣbahānī, from ʿAbdullāh ibn Maʿqil, from Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah رضي الله عنه who said: the Prophet ﷺ came to me while I was lighting a fire under a pot. He said: 'Are the lice in your head troubling you?' I said: 'Yes.' He said: So he ordered me to shave, and they were at al-Ḥudaybiyah, and it had not been made clear to them that they would shave there, as they were hopeful of entering Makkah. Then Allah revealed the verse of fidyah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered me to feed a farq among six poor persons, or fast three days, or slaughter a sheep.
