Hadith #382

English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from a man, from Kaʿb ibn ʿUjrah رضي الله عنه who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'There shall come a tribulation. The one who lies down during it is better than the one sitting, and the one sitting is better than the one standing, and the one standing is better than the one walking, and the one walking is better than the one riding.' He said: 'And there will come a veiled man,' and he said: 'This one on that day is upon the truth.' So I went quickly — or he said: rushing — and I took hold of his upper arms and said: 'This one, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'This one.' And it was ʿUthmān ibn ʿAffān رضي الله عنه.
