حَدَّثَنِي وَهْبٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النُّعْمَانَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ عَنْ أَبِي ثَعْلَبَةَ الْخُشَنِيِّ قَالَ جَلَسَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى نَبِيِّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَفِي يَدِهِ خَاتَمٌ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَقَرَعَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَ
دَهُ بِقَضِيبٍ كَانَ فِي يَدِهِ ثُمَّ غَفَلَ عَنْهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَرَمَى الرَّجُلُ بِخَاتَمِهِ فَنَظَرَ إِلَيْهِ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَيْنَ خَاتَمُكَ قَالَ أَلْقَيْتُهُ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَظُنُّنَا قَدْ أَوْجَعْنَاكَ وَأَغْرَمْنَاكَ

English Translation
Abū Thaʿlabah al-Khushanī narrated: A man sat beside the Prophet ﷺ with a gold ring on his hand. the Prophet ﷺ struck his hand with a stick that was in his hand. Then when the Prophet ﷺ looked away from him, the man threw his ring. the Prophet ﷺ looked at him and said: 'Where is your ring?' He said: 'I threw it away.' the Prophet ﷺ said: 'I think we have caused you pain and cost you.'
