حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا هَمَّامٌ حَدَّثَنَا قَتَادَةُ عَنْ يَزِيدَ أَخِي مُطَرِّفٍ عَنْ
عِيَاضِ بْنِ حِمَارٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِثْمُ الْمُسْتَبَّيْنِ مَا قَالَا عَلَى الْبَادِئِ حَتَّى يَفْتَدِيَ الْمَظْلُومُ أَوْ مَا لَمْ يَفْتَدِ الْمَظْلُومُ

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Hammām narrated to us, Qatādah narrated to us, from Yazīd, the brother of Muṭarrif, from ʿIyāḍ ibn Ḥimār رضي الله عنه — that the Prophet ﷺ said: 'The sin of two who insult each other — what they say is upon the one who started, until the wronged one retaliates — or: as long as the wronged one does not retaliate.'
