حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ
وَالشَّعْبِيِّ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَيْرُ النَّاسِ قَرْنِي ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ الَّذِينَ يَلُونَهُمْ ثُمَّ يَأْتِي قَوْمٌ تَسْبِقُ أَيْمَانُهُمْ شَهَادَتَهُمْ وَشَهَادَتُهُمْ أَيْمَانَهُمْ

English Translation
Hāshim narrated to us, Shaybān narrated to us, from ʿĀṣim, from Khaythamah and al-Shaʿbī, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The best of people are my generation, then those who follow them, then those who follow them, then those who follow them. Then there will come people whose oaths precede their testimony and whose testimony precedes their oaths.'
