English Translation

Abū Qays, the freed slave of ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, narrated that ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ used to fast continuously and rarely ate at dinner in the early part of the night. He mostly ate at suḥūr (pre-dawn). He would say: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'The distinguishing factor between our fasting and the fasting of the People of the Book is the pre-dawn meal.'
