حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَزِيدَ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يَقُولُ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ بِالْإِسْكَنْدَرِيَّةِ فَذَكَرُوا مَا هُمْ فِيهِ مِنْ الْعَيْشِ فَقَالَ رَج
ُلٌ مِنَ الصَّحَابَةِ لَقَدْ تُوُفِّيَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَمَا شَبِعَ أَهْلُهُ مِنْ الْخُبْزِ الْغَلِيثِ قَالَ مُوسَى يَعْنِي الشَّعِيرَ وَالسُّلْتَ إِذَا خُلِطَا

English Translation
Mūsā said: I heard my father say: I was with ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ in Alexandria when they mentioned the abundance of their living. A man from the Companions said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed away, and his family had not eaten their fill of coarse bread (ghulayth).' Mūsā said: meaning barley and sult (a type of grain) mixed together.
