قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا رَبَاحٌ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ الْمُطَّلِبِ وَكَانَ رَجُلًا مِنْ رَهْطِ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْعَاصِ قَالَ دَعَا أَعْرَابِيًّا إِلَى طَعَامٍ وَذَلِكَ بَعْدَ النَّ
حْرِ بِيَوْمٍ فَقَالَ الْأَعْرَابِيُّ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ لَهُ إِنَّ عَمْرَو بْنَ الْعَاصِ دَعَا رَجُلًا إِلَى طَعَامٍ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ فَقَالَ إِنِّي صَائِمٌ فَقَالَ عَمْرٌو إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ نَهَى عَنْ صَوْمِ هَذَا الْيَوْمِ

English Translation
Jaʿfar ibn al-Muṭṭalib, who was a man from the clan of ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ, narrated that ʿAmr invited a Bedouin to eat — this was the day after the Day of Sacrifice (Eid al-Aḍḥā). The Bedouin said: 'I am fasting.' ʿAmr informed him that he had invited a man to food on this day and the man said he was fasting. ʿAmr said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade fasting on this day.'
