حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ الْبَرَاءَ يَقُولُ فِي هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَالْمُجَاهِ
دُونَ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ قَالَ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَيْدًا فَجَاءَ بِكَتِفٍ فَكَتَبَهَا قَالَ فَشَكَا إِلَيْهِ ابْنُ أُمِّ مَكْتُومٍ ضَرَارَتَهُ فَنَزَلَتْ { لَا يَسْتَوِي الْقَاعِدُونَ مِنْ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ غَيْرُ أُولِي الضَّرَرِ }

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, that he heard al-Barāʾ say regarding this verse: {Not equal are those believers who sit [at home] and those who strive in the cause of Allah}: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded Zayd, who came with a shoulder-bone and wrote it. Then Ibn Umm Maktūm complained of his blindness, so {other than those with disabilities} was revealed.
