English Translation

Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Simāk ibn Ḥarb who said: I heard al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه say: the Prophet ﷺ used to straighten our rows as one of you straightens an arrow, until he saw that we had learned from him. Then he came out one day and stood until he was about to say the takbīr, and he saw a man whose chest protruded from the row. He said: 'Servants of Allah, you shall straighten your rows or Allah will cause discord among your faces.'
