حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ

عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ مَا كُلُّ الْحَدِيثِ سَمِعْنَاهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُنَا أَصْحَابُنَا عَنْهُ كَانَتْ تَشْغَلُنَا عَنْهُ رَعِيَّةُ الْإِبِلِ

English Translation
Muʿāwiyah ibn Hishām narrated to us: Sufyān narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ who said: We did not hear all the hadith directly from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — our companions would narrate from him to us, for tending the camels would keep us busy from him.
