English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ, who said: A man came to the Prophet ﷺ wearing an iron ring, and he said: "What is this — the adornment of the people of the Fire?" Then he came wearing a copper ring, and he said: "What is this — I detect the smell of idols from you?" Then he came wearing a gold ring, and he said: "What is this — the adornment of the people of Paradise?" He asked: "Then what should I wear?" He said: "Silver, but not a full mithqāl."
