حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ مُقَرِّنٍ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَازِبٍ قَالَ كُنَّا جُلُوسًا عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أَيُّ عُرَى الْإِسْلَامِ أَوْسَطُ قَالُوا الصَّلَاةُ قَالَ حَسَنَةٌ وَمَا هِيَ بِهَا قَ
الُوا الزَّكَاةُ قَالَ حَسَنَةٌ وَمَا هِيَ بِهَا قَالُوا صِيَامُ رَمَضَانَ قَالَ حَسَنٌ وَمَا هُوَ بِهِ قَالُوا الْحَجُّ قَالَ حَسَنٌ وَمَا هُوَ بِهِ قَالُوا الْجِهَادُ قَالَ حَسَنٌ وَمَا هُوَ بِهِ قَالَ إِنَّ أَوْسَطَ عُرَى الْإِيمَانِ أَنْ تُحِبَّ فِي اللَّهِ وَتُبْغِضَ فِي اللَّهِ

English Translation
Ismāʿīl narrated to us: Layth narrated to us, from ʿAmr ibn Murrah, from Muʿāwiyah ibn Suwayd ibn Muqarrin, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, who said: We were sitting with the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Which bond of Islam is the firmest?" They said: "The prayer." He said: "Good, but that is not it." They said: "Zakāh." He said: "Good, but that is not it." They said: "Fasting in Ramaḍān." He said: "Good, but that is not it." They said: "Ḥajj." He said: "Good, but that is not it." They said: "Jihād." He said: "Good, but that is not it." He said: "The firmest bond of faith is to love for the sake of Allah and to hate for the sake of Allah."
