English Translation
Yaḥyā ibn Ādam narrated to us: Fuḍayl — meaning Ibn ʿIyāḍ — narrated to us, from Manṣūr, from Saʿd ibn ʿUbaydah, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "When you retire to your bed, perform wuḍūʾ and lie on your right side, and say: O Allah, I submit my face to You, I entrust my affairs to You, I lean my back against You, out of fear and hope in You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You revealed and Your Prophet whom You sent. If you die, you die upon the fiṭrah." ʿAlī ibn Isḥāq narrated to us: ʿAbdullāh ibn al-Mubārak informed us: Sufyān informed us from Manṣūr from Saʿd ibn ʿUbaydah — and he mentioned its chain and meaning, adding: "Perform wuḍūʾ as you would for prayer," and: "Make these the last words you speak." He said: I repeated them back to the Prophet ﷺ, and when I reached "I believe in Your Book which You revealed," I said: "and Your Messenger." He said: "No — and Your Prophet whom You sent."
