English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated from Sufyān, from Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ, who said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to a man: "When you come to your bed, perform ablution as your ablution for prayer, then lie on your right side and say: 'O Allah, I have submitted myself to You, and I have turned my face to You, and I have entrusted my affair to You, and I have placed my back [in reliance] upon You, in hope of You and fear of You. There is no refuge or escape from You except to You. I believe in Your Book which You have revealed and in Your Prophet whom You have sent.' If you die, you die upon the natural disposition (fiṭrah). And make these the last words you speak."'
