English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated from Sufyān — from ʿAbd al-Malik ibn ʿUmayr, and Abū Isḥāq, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he would travel, would say: 'O Allah, shorten for us the distance of this [journey], and make its difficulty easy for us. O Allah, You are the Companion in travel and the Successor over the family. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the hardship of travel and the misery of return, and from a bad sight in wealth and family.' And when he would return, he would say: 'Returning, repenting, worshipping, to our Lord praising.'
