حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا الْأَعْمَشُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُرَّةَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ بْنِ عَا

زِبٍ أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَجَمَ يَهُودِيًّا وَقَالَ اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أُشْهِدُكَ أَنِّي أَوَّلُ مَنْ أَحْيَا سُنَّةً قَدْ أَمَاتُوهَا

English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated from al-Aʿmash, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Murrah, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, that the Prophet ﷺ stoned a Jew and said: 'O Allah, I call You to witness that I am the first to revive a practice (sunnah) that they had caused to die.'
