حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا إِسْحَاقَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ قَالَ مَرَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِأُنَاسٍ مِنْ الْأَنْصَارِ فِي مَجَالِسِهِمْ فَقَالَ
إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلِينَ فَاهْدُوا السَّبِيلَ وَرُدُّوا السَّلَامَ وَأَعِينُوا الْمَظْلُومَ و قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَن شُعْبَةَ قَالَ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ وَلَمْ يَسْمَعْهُ أَبُو إِسْحَاقَ مِنْ الْبَرَاءِ

English Translation
Abū Saʿīd narrated from Shuʿbah, who said: I heard Abū Isḥāq narrating from al-Barāʾ, who said: 'the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by some people from the Anṣār sitting in their gatherings and said: "If you must do so [sit in gatherings], then guide the way, return the greeting, and support the oppressed." Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated from Shuʿbah: Abū Isḥāq [narrated] from al-Barāʾ — but Abū Isḥāq did not hear it directly from al-Barāʾ.'
