English Translation
ʿUthmān ibn ʿUmar narrated from Mālik ibn Anas, from ʿAmr ibn al-Ḥārith, from ʿUbayd ibn Fayrūz, from al-Barāʾ ibn ʿĀzib, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was asked what should be avoided in sacrificial animals. He said: 'Four' — and al-Barāʾ said: 'My hand is shorter than the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — the lame whose limping is obvious, the one-eyed whose defect is obvious, the sick whose sickness is obvious, and the emaciated that has no marrow.'
