English Translation
Zayd ibn al-Ḥubāb narrated to us: Muʿāwiyah ibn Ṣāliḥ narrated to us: Nuʿaym ibn Ziyād Abū Ṭalḥah al-Anmārī narrated to me that he heard al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه say upon the minbar of Ḥimṣ: We stood with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the twenty-third in the month of Ramaḍān until the first third of the night. Then we stood with him on the night of the twenty-fifth until midnight. Then he stood with us on the night of the twenty-seventh until we thought we would not reach al-falāḥ — and they used to call the suḥūr 'al-falāḥ.' As for us, we say the seventh night is the night of the twenty-seventh, while you say the seventh is the night of the twenty-third — so who is more correct, we or you?
