حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَاصِمٍ أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُغِيرَةُ عَنْ شِبَاكٍ عَنْ عَامِرٍ أَخْبَرَنِي فُلَانٌ الثَّقَفِيُّ قَالَ سَأَلْنَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ ثَلَاثٍ
فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِي شَيْءٍ مِنْهُنَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يَرُدَّ إِلَيْنَا أَبَا بَكْرَةَ وَكَانَ مَمْلُوكًا وَأَسْلَمَ قَبْلَنَا فَقَالَ لَا هُوَ طَلِيقُ اللَّهِ ثُمَّ طَلِيقُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ثُمَّ سَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الشِّتَاءِ وَكَانَتْ أَرْضُنَا أَرْضًا بَارِدَةً يَعْنِي فِي الطَّهُورِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا وَسَأَلْنَاهُ أَنْ يُرَخِّصَ لَنَا فِي الدُّبَّاءِ فَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ لَنَا فِيهِ

English Translation
ʿAlī ibn ʿĀṣim narrated from al-Mughīrah, from Shibāk, from ʿĀmir — a certain man of Thaqīf informed me — who said: 'We asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about three things, and he did not grant us concession in any of them. We asked him to return to us Abū Bakrah, who was an owned slave and had accepted Islam before us. He said: "No. He is the freed one of Allah, then the freed one of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." Then we asked him to grant us concession in winter — as our land was a cold land — meaning in purification. But he did not grant us concession. And we asked him to grant us concession regarding gourds [as drinking vessels], but he did not grant us concession in that either.'
