حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ سُفْيَانَ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ عَنْ بَعْ
ضِ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَا تَقَدَّمُوا الشَّهْرَ حَتَّى تُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ أَوْ تَرَوْا الْهِلَالَ وَصُومُوا وَلَا تُفْطِرُوا حَتَّى تُكْمِلُوا الْعِدَّةَ أَوْ يَرَوْا الْهِلَالَ

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Raḥmān narrated to us, from Sufyān, from Manṣūr, from Ribʿī ibn Ḥirāsh, from some of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Do not begin the month [of Ramaḍān] until you complete the count [of Shaʿbān] or sight the crescent. And fast and do not break your fast until you complete the count or sight the crescent.'
