English Translation
Ḥasan and Bahz narrated to us — with the same meaning — they said: Ḥammād ibn Salamah narrated to us, from Simāk ibn Ḥarb, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه — he said: I believe it is from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — who said: A man was traveling in a barren land — Ḥasan said in his narration: meaning a desert — and he lay down under a tree with his riding camel, upon which was his water and food. He awoke and did not find it. He climbed a hilltop but did not see it. He climbed another hilltop but did not see it. Then he turned and there it was, dragging its reins. His joy at finding it was not greater than Allah's joy at the repentance of His servant when he repents. Bahz said: 'when he repents to Him.' Bahz said: Ḥammād said: I believe it is from the Prophet ﷺ.
