حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ أَخْبَرَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَابِسٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ أَصْحَابِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّه
ُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْحِجَامَةِ لِلصَّائِمِ وَالْمُوَاصَلَةِ وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا عَلَى أَصْحَابِهِ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ قَالَ إِنْ أُوَاصِلُ إِلَى السَّحَرِ فَرَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ يُطْعِمُنِي وَيَسْقِينِي

English Translation
ʿAbd al-Razzāq narrated to us, Sufyān informed us, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn ʿĀbis, from ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abī Laylā, from a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ who said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ forbade cupping for the fasting person and continuous fasting [wiṣāl], though he did not prohibit them for his Companions. They said: 'O Messenger of Allah, you observe continuous fasting until dawn.' He said: 'If I continue fasting until dawn, it is because my Lord عز وجل feeds me and gives me drink.'
