English Translation

Bahz narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, al-Ḥakam narrated to us, from Dharr, from the son of ʿAbd al-Raḥmān ibn Abzā, from his father, that a man asked ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb about tayammum. He did not know what to say. ʿAmmār ibn Yāsir said: 'Do you not remember when we were on an expedition and became ritually impure? I rolled in the dust and came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: This would have sufficed you — and Shuʿbah struck his hands on his knees and blew into his hands, then wiped his face and palms with them once.'
