حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ وَسُرَيْجٌ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ

ثَابِتٍ عَنْ حَبِيبِ بْنِ سَالِمٍ عَنِ النُّعْمَانِ بْنِ بَشِيرٍ قَالَ وَاللَّهِ إِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ النَّاسِ بِوَقْتِ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةِ صَلَاةِ الْعِشَاءِ الْآخِرَةِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّيهَا لِسُقُوطِ الْقَمَرِ لِثَالِثَةٍ

English Translation

ʿAffān and Surayj narrated to us — they said: Abū ʿAwānah narrated to us, from Abū Bishr, from Bashīr ibn Thābit, from Ḥabīb ibn Sālim, from al-Nuʿmān ibn Bashīr رضي الله عنه who said: By Allah, I am the most knowledgeable of people about the time of this prayer — the late ʿIshāʾ prayer: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray it when the moon would set on the third night.
