حَدَّثَنَا سُرَيْجُ بْنُ النُّعْمَانِ حَدَّثَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ جَابِرٍ عَنْ ضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ أَنَّهُ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَعَلَيْهِ حُلَّتَانِ مِنْ حُلَ
لِ الْيَمَنِ فَقَالَ يَا ضَمْرَةُ أَتَرَى ثَوْبَيْكَ هَذَيْنِ مُدْخِلَيْكَ الْجَنَّةَ فَقَالَ لَئِنْ اسْتَغْفَرْتَ لِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ لَا أَقْعُدُ حَتَّى أَنْزَعَهُمَا عَنِّي فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ اللَّهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِضَمْرَةَ بْنِ ثَعْلَبَةَ فَانْطَلَقَ سَرِيعًا حَتَّى نَزَعَهُمَا عَنْهُ

English Translation
Surayj ibn al-Nuʿmān narrated to us, Baqiyyah ibn al-Walīd narrated to us, from Sulaymān ibn Sulaym, from Yaḥyā ibn Jābir, from Ḍamrah ibn Thaʿlabah, that he came to the Prophet ﷺ wearing two garments from the garments of Yemen. the Prophet ﷺ said: "O Ḍamrah, do you think these two garments of yours will admit you to Paradise?" He said: "If you seek forgiveness for me, O Messenger of Allah, I will not sit still until I remove them." the Prophet ﷺ said: "O Allah, forgive Ḍamrah ibn Thaʿlabah." He hurried away until he removed them.
