Yazīd ibn Hārūn narrated to us, he said: Muḥammad ibn ʿAmr informed us, from ʿAlī ibn Yaḥyā ibn Khallād al-Zuraqī, from Rifāʿah ibn Rāfiʿ al-Zuraqī — and he was a Companion of the Prophet ﷺ — who said: A man came while the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was sitting in the mosque. He prayed near him, then came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed." He went back and prayed in a similar manner, then came back to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said to him: "Repeat your prayer, for you have not prayed." The man said: "O Messenger of Allah, teach me how to do it." He said: "When you face the qiblah, say the takbīr. Then recite the Mother of the Quran (al-Fātiḥah), then recite whatever you wish. When you bow, place your palms on your knees, extend your back, and settle firmly in your bowing. When you raise your head, straighten your spine until the bones return to their joints. When you prostrate, settle firmly in your prostration. When you raise your head, sit on your left thigh. Then do that in every rakʿah and prostration."
