Hadith #88

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ عِلَاقَةَ عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ شَرِيكٍ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَأَصْحَابُهُ عِنْدَهُ كَأَنَّمَا عَلَى رُءُوسِهِمْ الطَّيْرُ قَالَ فَسَلَّمْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَقَعَدْتُ قَالَ فَجَاءَتْ الْأَعْرَابُ فَسَأَلُوهُ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ نَتَدَاوَى قَالَ نَعَمْ تَدَاوَوْا فَإِنَّ اللَّهَ لَمْ يَضَعْ دَاءً إِلَّا وَضَعَ لَهُ دَوَاءً غَيْرَ دَاءٍ وَاحِدٍ الْهَرَمُ قَالَ وَكَانَ أُسَا
مَةُ حِينَ كَبِرَ يَقُولُ هَلْ تَرَوْنَ لِي مِنْ دَوَاءٍ الْآنَ قَالَ وَسَأَلُوهُ عَنْ أَشْيَاءَ هَلْ عَلَيْنَا حَرَجٌ فِي كَذَا وَكَذَا قَالَ عِبَادَ اللَّهِ وَضَعَ اللَّهُ الْحَرَجَ إِلَّا امْرَأً اقْتَضَى امْرَأً مُسْلِمًا ظُلْمًا فَذَلِكَ حَرَجٌ وَهُلْكٌ قَالُوا مَا خَيْرُ مَا أُعْطِيَ النَّاسُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ قَالَ خُلُقٌ حَسَنٌ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us: Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Ziyād ibn ʿIlāqah, from Usāmah ibn Sharīk رضي الله عنه who said: I came to the Prophet ﷺ, and his Companions were with him as though birds were perched on their heads. I greeted him and sat down. Then the Bedouins came and asked: 'O Messenger of Allah, shall we seek medical treatment?' He said: 'Yes, seek treatment, for Allah did not place a disease without placing a cure for it — except for one disease: old age.' Usāmah, when he grew old, would say: 'Do you see any cure for me now?' They asked him about various matters: Is there sin upon us in such-and-such? He said: 'O servants of Allah, Allah has removed sin except from a person who wrongs another Muslim unjustly — that is sin and destruction.' They said: 'What is the best thing people have been given, O Messenger of Allah?' He said: 'Good character.'
