English Translation

Jarīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh al-Bajalī narrated: A man from the Anṣār came to the Prophet ﷺ with a pouch of gold that filled the space between his fingers and said, 'This is for the cause of Allah عز وجل.' Then Abū Bakr رضي الله تعالى عنه stood up, and they gave and he gave. Then ʿUmar رضي الله تعالى عنه stood up, and they gave and he gave. Then the Muhājirūn stood up and they gave. The face of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ radiated until I could see the glow in his cheeks. Then he said: 'Whoever introduces a righteous practice in Islam and it is acted upon after him shall have a reward equal to theirs, without any of their rewards being diminished. And whoever introduces an evil practice in Islam and it is acted upon after him shall bear a burden equal to theirs, without any of their burdens being diminished.'
