حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ قَيْسَ بْنَ أَبِي حَازِمٍ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ كُنَّا عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لَيْلَةَ الْبَدْرِ فَقَالَ إِنَّكُمْ سَتَرَوْنَ رَبَّكُمْ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ كَمَا تَرَوْنَ الْقَمَرَ لَا تُضَامُونَ فِي رُؤْيَتِهِ فَإِنْ اسْ
تَطَعْتُمْ أَنْ لَا تُغْلَبُوا عَلَى هَاتَيْنِ الصَّلَاتَيْنِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ ثُمَّ تَلَا هَذِهِ الْآيَةَ فَ { سَبِّحْ بِحَمْدِ رَبِّكَ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ وَقَبْلَ الْغُرُوبِ } قَالَ شُعْبَةُ لَا أَدْرِي قَالَ فَإِنْ اسْتَطَعْتُمْ أَوْ لَمْ يَقُلْ

English Translation
Jarīr narrated: We were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the night of the full moon. He said: 'You shall see your Lord عز وجل just as you see this moon — you will not be harmed in seeing Him. So if you are able not to be overwhelmed such that you miss the two prayers before sunrise and before sunset (Fajr and ʿAṣr), then do so.' Then he recited the verse: {So glorify the praises of your Lord before the rising of the sun and before its setting.} Shuʿbah said: I do not know if he said 'if you are able' or not.
