Hadith #192

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ يُوسُفَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شِبْلٍ قَالَ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ لَمَّا دَنَوْتُ مِنْ الْمَدِينَةِ أَنَخْتُ رَاحِلَتِي ثُمَّ حَلَلْتُ عَيْبَتِي ثُمَّ لَبِسْتُ حُلَّتِي ثُمَّ دَخَلْتُ الْمَسْجِدَ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَخْطُبُ فَرَمَانِي النَّاسُ بِالْحَدَقِ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ لِجَلِيسِي يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ هَلْ ذَكَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ
صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَمْرِي شَيْئًا قَالَ نَعَمْ ذَكَرَكَ بِأَحْسَنِ الذِّكْرِ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يَخْطُبُ إِذْ عَرَضَ لَهُ فِي خُطْبَتِهِ فَقَالَ إِنَّهُ سَيَدْخُلُ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنْ هَذَا الْفَجِّ مِنْ خَيْرِ ذِي يَمَنٍ أَلَا وَإِنَّ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ مَسْحَةُ مَلَكٍ قَالَ جَرِيرٌ فَحَمِدْتُ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

English Translation
Jarīr narrated: When I drew near to Madīnah, I made my camel kneel, opened my travel bag, and put on my fine garments. Then I entered the mosque, and the Prophet ﷺ was delivering a sermon. The people stared at me. I said to the person next to me, 'O ʿAbd Allāh, did the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention anything about me?' He said, 'Yes, he mentioned you in the best manner. While he was delivering his sermon, he interrupted it and said: There shall enter upon you from this mountain pass one of the best of the people of Yemen. Indeed, upon his face is the mark of an angel.' Jarīr said: So I praised Allah عز وجل.
