حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَرِيرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ أَنَّهُ بَالَ قَالَ ثُمَّ
تَوَضَّأَ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى خُفَّيْهِ فَقِيلَ لَهُ فَقَالَ قَدْ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَفْعَلُهُ قَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ كَانَ أَعْجَبَ ذَاكَ إِلَيْهِمْ أَنَّ إِسْلَامَ جَرِيرٍ كَانَ بَعْدَ الْمَائِدَةِ

English Translation
Jarīr ibn ʿAbd Allāh urinated, then performed wuḍūʾ and wiped over his leather socks. It was said to him (about this), and he said: 'I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ do this.' Ibrāhīm said: This used to impress them because Jarīr's acceptance of Islam was after (the revelation of) al-Māʾidah.
