English Translation

Wakīʿ narrated to us, Abū Hilāl narrated to us, from ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sawādah, from Anas ibn Mālik — a man from the Banū ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kaʿb — who said: The cavalry of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided us, so I came to him while he was eating breakfast. He said, 'Come close and eat.' I said, 'I am fasting.' He said, 'Sit down and I will tell you about fasting — or the fast. Indeed, Allah عز وجل has waived from the traveler half the prayer, and from the traveler, the pregnant woman, and the nursing woman, the fast — or fasting. By Allah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said both of them or one of them. How I wish I had eaten from the food of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ!' ʿAffān narrated to us, Abū Hilāl narrated to us, ʿAbd Allāh ibn Sawādah narrated to us, from Anas ibn Mālik — a man from the Banū ʿAbd Allāh ibn Kaʿb, and he is not the Anṣārī — who said: The cavalry of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ raided us — and he mentioned the hadith. ʿAbd Allāh said: And Shaybān narrated to us, Abū Hilāl narrated to us — and he mentioned the like of it.
