حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ حَدَّثَنَا مَنْصُورٌ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَنْ هَمَّامِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ أُرْسِلُ الْكَلْبَ الْمُعَلَّمَ فَيَ
أْخُذُ قَالَ إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ الْمُعَلَّمَ وَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَأَخَذَ فَكُلْ قُلْتُ وَإِنْ قَتَلَ قَالَ وَإِنْ قَتَلَ قَالَ قُلْتُ أَرْمِي بِالْمِعْرَاضِ قَالَ إِذَا أَصَابَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَإِنْ أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ

English Translation
ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim narrated: He asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, saying: 'I release the trained dog and it catches game.' He said: 'If you release your trained dog and you mention the name of Allah عز وجل, and it catches, then eat — even if it kills.' I said: 'I shoot with the miʿrāḍ.' He said: 'If it strikes with its edge, then eat. But if it strikes with its flat side, do not eat.'
