حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ أَبِي زَائِدَةَ وَعَاصِمٌ الْأَحْوَلُ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ قَالَ سَأَلْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ
عَنْ صَيْدِ الْمِعْرَاضِ فَقَالَ مَا أَصَابَ بِحَدِّهِ فَكُلْ وَمَا أَصَابَ بِعَرْضِهِ فَهُوَ وَقِيذٌ وَسَأَلْتُ عَنْ صَيْدِ الْكَلْبِ فَقَالَ إِذَا أَرْسَلْتَ كَلْبَكَ وَذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَمْسَكَ عَلَيْكَ فَكُلْ وَإِنْ وَجَدْتَ مَعَهُ كَلْبًا غَيْرَ كَلْبِكَ وَقَدْ قَتَلَهُ وَخَشِيتَ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ أَخَذَ مَعَهُ فَلَا تَأْكُلْ فَإِنَّكَ ذَكَرْتَ اسْمَ اللَّهِ عَلَى كَلْبِكَ وَلَمْ تَذْكُرْهُ عَلَى غَيْرِهِ

English Translation
ʿAdī ibn Ḥātim narrated: I asked the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about game caught with the miʿrāḍ. He said: 'Whatever it strikes with its edge, eat. What it strikes with its flat side — that is killed by blunt force; do not eat.' I asked about game caught by dogs. He said: 'If you release your dog and mention the name of Allah over it, and it catches for you, then eat. If you find another dog with it that has killed the game, and you fear it caught alongside yours, then do not eat, for you mentioned the name of Allah on your dog but not the other.'
