English Translation
Wakīʿ narrated to us, from al-Masʿūdī, from ʿAdī ibn Thābit, from Abū Burdah, from Abū Mūsā, that when Asmāʾ arrived [from Abyssinia], ʿUmar ibn al-Khaṭṭāb رضي الله تعالى عنه met her on one of the roads of Medina and said: 'Is she the Abyssinian one?' She said: 'Yes.' He said: 'What fine people you are, had you not been preceded in the Hijrah.' She said to ʿUmar: 'You were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ — he carried those of you who walked and taught those of you who were ignorant — while we fled with our religion. But I will not leave until I mention that to the Prophet ﷺ.' So she went to him and said that to him. the Prophet ﷺ said: 'Rather, you have [the reward of] the Hijrah twice: your migration to Medina and your migration to Abyssinia.'
