حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي قَسَامَةُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ قَالَ ابْنُ جَعْفَرٍ عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ خَلَقَ آدَمَ مِنْ قَبْضَةٍ قَبَضَهَا مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْأَرْضِ فَجَ
اءَ بَنُو آدَمَ عَلَى قَدْرِ الْأَرْضِ جَاءَ مِنْهُمْ الْأَبْيَضُ وَالْأَحْمَرُ وَالْأَسْوَدُ وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ وَالْخَبِيثُ وَالطَّيِّبُ وَالسَّهْلُ وَالْحَزْنُ وَبَيْنَ ذَلِكَ حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ حَدَّثَنَا عَوْفٌ عَنْ قَسَامَةَ بْنِ زُهَيْرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْأَشْعَرِيَّ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
Yaḥyā ibn Saʿīd and Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, they said: ʿAwf narrated to us, he said: Qasāmah ibn Zuhayr narrated to me — Ibn Jaʿfar said: from Qasāmah ibn Zuhayr — from Abū Mūsā, from the Prophet ﷺ, who said: 'Allah عز وجل created Adam from a handful that He took from the entire earth. So the children of Adam came according to the [nature of the] earth — from among them came the white, the red, the black, and those in between; and the vile, the good, the gentle, and the rough, and those in between.' Rawḥ narrated to us, ʿAwf narrated to us, from Qasāmah ibn Zuhayr, who said: I heard al-Ashʿarī [narrate] similarly.
