English Translation

Aswad ibn ʿĀmir narrated to us, Isrāʾīl narrated to us, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Burdah, from his father — who raised it (to the Prophet ﷺ) — who said: 'The orphan girl is to be consulted regarding herself. If she remains silent, that is her consent. And if she refuses, she is not to be married off.'
