حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيُّ بْنُ مَيْمُونٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَازِعِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي رَاسِبٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَرْزَةَ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسُولًا إِلَى حَيٍّ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ فِي شَيْءٍ لَا يَدْرِي مَهْدِيٌّ مَا هُوَ قَالَ فَسَبُّوهُ وَضَرَبُوهُ فَشَكَا ذَلِكَ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ
عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ لَوْ أَنَّكَ أَتَيْتَ أَهْلَ عُمَانَ مَا سَبُّوكَ وَمَا ضَرَبُوكَ حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ حَدَّثَنَا مَهْدِيٌّ حَدَّثَنَا جَابِرٌ أَبُو الْوَازِعِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبَا بَرْزَةَ يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ بَعَثَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسُولًا إِلَى حَيٍّ مِنْ أَحْيَاءِ الْعَرَبِ فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ

English Translation
ʿAffān narrated to us, Mahdī ibn Maymūn narrated to us, Abū al-Wāziʿ — a man from Banū Rāsib — narrated to us. He said: I heard Abū Barzah say: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger to a tribe of the Arabs for some matter — Mahdī did not know what it was. They insulted him and beat him. He complained to the Prophet ﷺ, who said: ‘Had you gone to the people of ʿUmān, they would not have insulted you or beaten you.’ Yūnus narrated to us, Mahdī narrated to us, Jābir Abū al-Wāziʿ narrated to us. He said: I heard Abū Barzah narrating from the Prophet ﷺ. He said: the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent a messenger to a tribe of the Arabs — then he mentioned something similar.
