حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ وَحَجَّاجٌ قَالَا أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ ح
ُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُطَرِّفًا قَالَ قَالَ لِي عِمْرَانُ بْنُ حُصَيْنٍ إِنِّي أُحَدِّثُكَ حَدِيثًا عَسَى اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ أَنْ يَنْفَعَكَ بِهِ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَدْ جَمَعَ بَيْنَ حَجٍّ وَعُمْرَةٍ ثُمَّ لَمْ يَنْهَ عَنْهُ حَتَّى مَاتَ وَلَمْ يَنْزِلْ قُرْآنٌ فِيهِ يُحَرِّمُهُ وَإِنَّهُ كَانَ يُسَلِّمُ عَلَيَّ فَلَمَّا اكْتَوَيْتُ أَمْسَكَ عَنِّي فَلَمَّا تَرَكْتُهُ عَادَ إِلَيَّ

English Translation
Muhammad ibn Ja‘far and Hajjāj both said: Shu‘bah informed us, from Humayd ibn Hilāl, who said: I heard Mutarrif say: ‘Imrān ibn Husayn said to me: I shall narrate to you a hadith; perhaps Allāh — mighty and majestic is He — will benefit you by it. The Messenger of Allāh ﷺ combined Hajj and ‘Umrah together, then he did not forbid it until he died, and no verse of the Qur’ān was revealed prohibiting it. And he (the angels) used to greet me, but when I cauterized myself, they stopped. When I abandoned cauterization, they returned to me.
