حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَن سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ عَن أَبِيهِ عَن أَبِي مُوسَى عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ عَلَى كُلِّ مُسْلِمٍ صَدَقَةٌ قَالُوا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ قَالَ يَعْتَمِلُ بِيَدَيْهِ فَيَنْفَعُ نَفْسَهُ وَيَتَصَدَّقُ
قَالُوا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ أَوْ يَسْتَطِعْ قَالَ يُعِينُ ذَا الْحَاجَةِ الْمَلْهُوفَ قَالَ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَوْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ قَالَ يَأْمُرُ بِالْخَيْرِ قَالُوا فَإِنْ لَمْ يَسْتَطِعْ أَوْ يَفْعَلْ قَالَ يُمْسِكُ عَنْ الشَّرِّ فَإِنَّهُ صَدَقَةٌ

English Translation
Muḥammad ibn Jaʿfar narrated to us, Shuʿbah narrated to us, from Saʿīd ibn Abī Burdah, from his father, from Abū Mūsā, from the Prophet ﷺ who said: 'Every Muslim must give charity.' They said: 'What if he cannot find anything to give?' He said: 'Let him work with his hands to benefit himself and give charity.' They said: 'What if he cannot do that or does not?' He said: 'Let him help the one in need who is distressed.' They said: 'What if he cannot do that or does not?' He said: 'Let him enjoin good.' They said: 'What if he cannot or does not?' He said: 'Let him refrain from evil, for that is charity for him.'
