English Translation
Ismā‘īl narrated to us. ‘Alī ibn Zayd narrated from Abū Nadrah, who said: ‘Imrān ibn Husayn passed by and we sat. A young man from the group stood up and asked him about the prayer of the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ during battles, Hajj, and ‘Umrah. He came and stood before us and said: This man has asked me about a matter, and I wanted you all to hear it — or as he said. I fought alongside the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ and he only prayed two rak‘ahs until he returned to Madinah. I performed Hajj with him and he only prayed two rak‘ahs until he returned to Madinah. I was present at the Conquest and he stayed in Makkah for eighteen nights, praying only two rak‘ahs for the people. Then he said: O people of the land, pray four, for we are travelers.
