Hadith #188

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى عَنْ يُونُسَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ عَنْ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ فِي مَسِيرٍ فَعَرَّسُوا فَنَامُوا عَنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ فَلَمْ يَسْتَيْقِظُوا حَتَّى طَلَعَتْ الشَّمْسُ فَلَمَّا ارْتَفَعَتْ وَانْبَسَطَتْ أَمَرَ إِنْسَانًا فَأَذَّنَ فَصَلَّوْا الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ فَلَمَّا حَانَتْ الصَّلَاةُ صَلَّوْا
English Translation
Abd al-A‘lā narrated to us, from Yūnus, from al-Hasan, from ‘Imrān ibn Husayn, that the Messenger of Allāh ﷺ was on a march. They stopped to rest at night and overslept the Fajr prayer. They did not wake up until the sun had risen. When it rose high and spread its light, he ordered someone to call the adhān. They prayed the two rak‘ahs (of Sunnah). Then when the time for the obligatory prayer came, they prayed.
