حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ عَنْ أَبِي قِلَابَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُهَلَّبِ أَنَّ عِمْرَانَ بْنَ حُصَيْنٍ حَدَّثَهُ أَنَّ امْرَأَةً أُتِيَتْ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ جُهَيْنَةَ حُبْلَى مِنْ الزِّنَا فَقَالَتْ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنِّي أَصَبْتُ حَدًّا فَأَقِمْهُ عَلَيَّ قَالَ فَدَعَا وَ
لِيَّهَا فَقَالَ أَحْسِنْ إِلَيْهَا فَإِذَا وَضَعَتْ فَأْتِنِي بِهَا فَفَعَل فَأَمَرَ بِهَا فَشُكَّتْ عَلَيْهَا ثِيَابُهَا ثُمَّ أَمَرَ بِهَا فَرُجِمَتْ ثُمَّ صَلَّى عَلَيْهَا فَقَالَ عُمَرُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى عَنْهُ تُصَلِّي عَلَيْهَا وَقَدْ زَنَتْ فَقَالَ لَقَدْ تَابَتْ تَوْبَةً لَوْ قُسِمَتْ بَيْنَ سَبْعِينَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْمَدِينَةِ لَوَسِعَتْهُمْ وَهَلْ وَجَدْتَ أَفْضَلَ مِنْ أَنْ جَادَتْ بِنَفْسِهَا لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ

English Translation
Yahyā ibn Sa‘īd narrated to us: Hishām narrated to us, from Yahyā ibn Abī Kathīr, from Abū Qilābah, from Abū al-Muhallab, that ‘Imrān ibn Husayn narrated to him that a woman from Juhaynah came to the Prophet ﷺ pregnant from adultery. She said: O Messenger of Allāh, I have committed a transgression, so carry out the punishment on me. He called her guardian and said: Be good to her. When she gives birth, bring her to me. He did so. the Prophet ﷺ ordered that her garments be tied tightly around her, then he ordered her stoning, and she was stoned. Then he prayed over her. ‘Umar, may Allāh be pleased with him, said: You pray over her when she has committed adultery? He said: She has repented a repentance that, if divided among seventy of the people of Madinah, would suffice them. Have you found anything better than her giving herself sincerely to Allāh — mighty and majestic is He?
