حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ أَخْبَرَنَا شَرِيكُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ خَيْثَمَةَ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ كُنْتُ أَمْشِي مَعَ عِمْرَانَ بْنِ حُصَيْنٍ أَحَدُنَا آخِذٌ بِيَدِ صَاحِبِهِ
فَمَرَرْنَا بِسَائِلٍ يَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ فَاحْتَبَسَنِي عِمْرَانُ وَقَالَ قِفْ نَسْتَمِعْ الْقُرْآنَ فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ سَأَلَ فَقَالَ عِمْرَانُ انْطَلِقْ بِنَا إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ اقْرَءُوا الْقُرْآنَ وَسَلُوا اللَّهَ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى بِهِ فَإِنَّ مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ قَوْمًا يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ يَسْأَلُونَ النَّاسَ بِهِ

English Translation
Yazīd narrated to us, Sharīk ibn ʿAbd Allāh informed us, from Manṣūr, from Khaythamah, from al-Ḥasan, who said: I was walking with ʿImrān ibn Ḥuṣayn, each of us holding the other’s hand, when we passed by a beggar reciting the Quran. ʿImrān stopped me and said: ‘Wait, let us listen to the Quran.’ When the man finished, he asked people for money. ʿImrān said: ‘Let us go. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "Recite the Quran and ask Allah — Blessed and Exalted — by it, for after you will come people who recite the Quran asking people by it."’
